Routine sump pumping in regulated environments requires more than simply removing water. Facilities must ensure hydrocarbons and oil sheen are not discharged into the surrounding soil or stormwater systems. The VIPOR-SUMP combines staged filtration with automatic shutoff protection to ensure compliant operation. Under normal operation:

1. Water collects in the existing sump crock
2. The surrounding VSF ring captures large sediment and debris
3. A 25-micron pre-filter removes smaller sediment
4. Water enters the 6” x 18” Hydrocarbon Flow Filter (HFF)
5. Hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds are reduced to non-detectable levels
6. The submersible dewatering pump evacuates filtered water

If a significant oil release occurs, the system automatically prevents contaminated discharge from exiting the vault.
